Dashing through the Blogosphere ...

... Now that the holiday season is just about upon us I will be able to get this blog in better shape, ie. I don't have to work for about a week, I hope. As said in a previous post, a links section is sorely needed. I have a growing number of candidates for this area including other personal blogs which in turn are now listing the anarchist equine on their own links. This particular blogger template requires some additional HTML code ( a modification of "C") . Of course I could just change templates, also an option. Most middle level computer languages make the intricacies of semiconductor electronics seem almost trivial in comparison. Even machine language programming which I did many years ago, for the old 6800 Motorola chip, was simple in comparison. Also there have been problems with Blogger beta. Occasionally Blogger will not recognize my Google account (ie. email address followed by password ) usually when I am trying to make a comment on another blog and I have to "go back" to my own blog just to log on. Really annoying at times. Also I changed the name of this blog once in the past. I used my own name until I realized there were others of the same first name in the blogosphere. I also changed the URL to correspond to the changed public name but did this at a later date ... very confusing.

... Anyway, for the curious among my broad readership, some of you may not know "shagya" refers to a unusual type of arabian horse which was developed in Hungary during the last century, a cross between the smaller Egyptian type and other breeds like the Lipizzaner and the Kladrubber. The latter is a breed originating from what is now the Czech republic. Anyone who has been to arabian shows (such as the "Royal Red" held in this city at the end of August every year) has probably noted that the conventional purebred arab is not large enough for work over fences. The result in this case is a separate type or subgroup within the general arabian line not just a cross like the English Angloarabian. For instance Shagyas follow the general arab rule ( not an absolute one ) on skeletal anatomy. See http://www.arabianhorses.org/home/faq/AskExpert4.asp from the I.A.H.A.. The shagya was used as a mount for soldiers due to it's greater strength and ability to jump. That's an unfortunate waste of an animal ( and people ) as all the teeming multitudes of "anarchs" who hang on the words of this scribe are probably thinking. This is no longer the case fortunately. So some things in this world have improved a little.

... More tidbits; here is a little vignette from Eugene Plawiuk over at "La Revue Gauche" concerning international Internet penetration. Apparently Johnny Canuck is one of the heaviest users and the most intense blogger! At least we're really good at something. Normally and generally we're known for our crappy weather, American style Christian fundamentalism mainly in rural Saskatchewan and (not just in) rural Alberta, and a social service system that looks good compared to that of the Yanks but is, with the exception of medicare, a bit rough by continental standards ... even in today's almost permanent state of fiscal crisis.( ie. I don't hear about food banks in Germany!). Anyway check out Eugene's blog at http://plawiuk.blogspot.com/. This guy is really dedicated! Below is part of the first paragraph of "We're Number One, We're Number One"

" Not only do we have some of the highest home computer usage in the world, just behind Finland and Norway, (baby its cold outside, I think I'll go surfing) we have the highest usage of the internet. It now appears we also have the most bloggers. So despite all the brouhaha down south about the impact of political bloggers, their public penetration is minimal whereas ours is far greater. Which means not only in blogging, but all aspects of the new media on the internet. Have computer will surf. And Canadians do. "
